MITA's number one priority is saving lives, preventing injuries and ensuring the overall safety of workers in the road and bridge building industry.
Our comprehensive safety evaluation and custom-tailored safety and health training programs give members practical information on how to keep your workers out of harm's way. MITA provides site surveys and an extensive safety video library for members.
MITA consistently represents its members with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Development (DLEG), Bureau of Safety and Regulation (MIOSHA). Through a historic partnering agreement and consultation on MIOSHA regulations, MITA works hard to keep workers safe and healthy, and is a well respected safety leader in the state.
MITA recently established an innovative partnership agreement with MIOSHA and Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Development (DLEG). MITA administers an annual $33,000 state safety grant to provide safety training programs, informational newsletters, and technical assistance to road and bridge contractors and public sector organizations.
MITA is active on numerous safety and health advisory committees and statewide safety conferences.
"If our workers aren't safe on the job, we're not doing
our job. The knowledge we've gained from MITA's safety and
health training programs helps keep our employees free from
serious injury."
