In Memoriam - Ron Lammy, Sr.

Share |

Ron Lammy, Sr. was involved in the construction industry for his entire life. After WWII, he began driving a dump truck for Kurtz Grave in Flint, Michigan. Later, in the late 40's and early 50's, he operated cranes and was a member of the Operating Engineers.

While at Kurtz, he assisted them in entering the Redi-Mix concrete business. This became his passion for the rest of his professional life. He started his own business, Flushing Ready Mix, in 1955. Leaving this business in 1963, he started Modern Concrete in Flint. This led to many other businesses, which included ownership and involvement in Modern Crane Rental, Modern Transport, Modern Crushed Aggregates, Modern Transport of Detroit, Saginaw Aggregates, and Tri City Aggregates. He was also instrumental in the early years of Livingston County Concrete. He served on the board of the Michigan Concrete Association in the 70's, as well as many other local associations in the Flint and Genesee County areas. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah, and his son, Ron Lammy II.
