LANSING (WKZO) -- The Michigan Transportation Team is once again holding a contest in which people can win up to 500 dollars to be reimbursed for their car repairs. The repairs ought to be related to the poor state of Michigan roads, and those who enter have to submit a copy of their bill at

Mike Nystrom, with the Transportation Team, says that the contest just highlights the fact that Michigan's Roads have been in a bad way for far too long. Still, he thinks there may be some room for optimism on the issue this year, as state leaders are seriously talking about it for once.

Governor Rick Snyder has proposed raising gas taxes and vehicle registration fees to collect more money for road repairs. It's not clear yet if his fellow Republicans in the legislature will go along with that, or try to raise funding in some other way.
