Michigan Infrastructure & Transportation Association
Executive VIce President
The Michigan Infrastructure & Transportation Association is pleased by the Governor’s announcement today of an increase of approximately $254 million in funding for transportation in his budget recommendation. However, while we thank the Governor for his continued focus on making infrastructure a priority, we need to remind the Legislature that this one-time solution falls short of the overall annual need to maintain our transportation system, which is estimated at $2 billion per year.
Fixing our roads will save lives, save future repair costs to our state and save Michigan drivers’ money by reducing the cost that the average Michigan motorist spends each year on unnecessary vehicle repairs.
We are ready to partner with the Legislature to support a sustainable, long-term solution that will save lives, save money and improve our infrastructure for many generations to come.
