MITA in Search of Construction Exhibit Props
Friday, October 5, 2012
MITA continually promotes and supports “workforce development” through a variety of ways including the embracing of activities that encourage students in middle and high school to consider potential careers in the construction industry, either through craft training or a two- or four-year degree.
MITA believes that reaching out to the future workforce during their formative years of education is critical. We want students thinking seriously about their career choice and to expose them to the exciting world of heavy/highway construction.
Each year MITA is involved with a number of events that promote the construction industry to middle and high school students including the Detroit Construction Science Expo, Michigan Construction Career Days, and the Michigan YES Expo.
In an effort to grab the student’s attention so they give serious consideration to a career in our industry, MITA is reaching out to the membership to help us build and develop a collection of various display props. MITA is looking for items that were either salvaged from projects or extra items that are taking up shop space. The bigger the better but keep in mind that we need to be able to move these items inside of buildings with minimal assistance. Also, MITA promotes hands on displays so that students can touch and feel real construction materials. Therefore, any items that you may think of that can be held and/or touched would be appreciated.
If you have any item that you would like to donate to the “MITA Construction Exhibit Prop” collection, please contact Doug Needham at firstname.lastname@example.org or call him at the MITA office at 517-347-8336.
