MITA represents the interests of the underground, road and bridge contractors throughout Michigan as well as many affiliated businesses by promoting and protecting these various segments of the industry in Washington DC, Lansing and at the local level in terms of governmental relations. The top priority of MITA is to fight for and secure adequate long-term funding with limited bureaucratic involvement for the entire heavy construction industry.

2012 Transportation Funding FAQs
MITA members have been busy discussing the issue of infrastructure funding with their elected officials, family and friends.  With the recent introduction of 30 bills between both the House and the Senate, it is expected that more and more questions will come up during these meetings.
Help Support Water and Wastewater Infrastructure for the Industry
The House Congressional Ways and Means Committee is scheduled to meet on Friday, February 3, 2012, where discussions are anticipated to be held on whether to exempt water projects from state bond caps.
Transportation restructuring package introduced this week in Lansing

During last week’s State of the State message Governor Rick Snyder referenced a comprehensive package of bills that would be introduced in the near future to address the inadequate infrastructure needs of Michigan. Through Governor Snyder’s leadership and many months of determined effort by MITA staff and MITA members, a package of bills was introduced Thursday in the House and Senate on a bipartisan level.

Road Funding to be Debated at Beginning of New Year

MITA staff has identified House and Senate sponsors for Governor Snyder’s road funding proposal and are readying bills for introduction at the beginning of 2012.
